Barea, Puerto Rico ousted from worlds

ANKARA, Turkey (AP)—Charles Abouo scored 19 points to lead Ivory Coast to an88-79 win over Puerto Rico on Thursday at the basketball world championship, butit was China that advanced to the knockout round on a three-team tiebreaker.
Mohamed Kone had double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds for theIvorians and Mamadou Lamizana added 17 points. Jose Barea scored 19 points forPuerto Rico.
The win, however, was not enough for Ivory Coast to advance as China willmove on to Istanbul on point differential ahead of Ivory Coast and Puerto Rico.
Turkey already won Group C, and Russia and Greece have also advanced.
